Declaration of the Council of the Syrian Charter, for immediate release

On the humanitarian situation in Syria, in particular Northern Syria, East of Euphrates, Idlib and its countryside

In its founding act, the Council of the Syrian Charter pledged itself to monitor the humanitarian situation in Syria and of the Syrian people

Out of concern for the life and well-being of Syrian women, children, and men, wherever they are, the Council expresses its grave dismay over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the areas of military conflict, especially the territories East of the Euphrates river, the North of Syria in general, as well as Idlib and its countryside

The Council calls on all parties to the conflict to respect human life and the physical integrity of the inhabitants of those areas. It stresses the unassailable need to protect civilians against hostilities. The Council calls for their safety to be ensured, in compliance with all divine and man-made law.In conclusion, the Council affirms that it will continue to monitor all developments related to the military and humanitarian situation in those areas, and that it will express its opinion successively on all matters in this regard
